Hello Everybody, I hope you are all well.
I was having a little sort out yesterday and reorganising my bookcase when I suddenly realised just how many fantastic books I read last year, so I thought I'd make a little post about some of my favourites.

1-3 The Infernal Devices - Cassandra Clare
Book 1. Clockwork Angel
Book 2. Clockwork Prince
Book 3. Clockwork Princess

I have read the entire Shadowhunter Chronicles all the way through at least twice and I have just started them all again in anticipation for the next book which is part of the Dark Artifices series which will be released in may.
This trilogy begins when sixteen year old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean from America  to London to find her brother. In a time when Queen Victoria reigned,  she enters the terrifying world  London’s Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the roam the  streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.
These books are simply amazing and are truly well researched. They paint such a vivid picture of the Downworld.
Filled with twists, turns, giggles, tears, love and heartbreak; this book really does do  everything. Tessa is such a strong female character who inspires with her quick wit and sharp tongue as she tries to keep her new friends Will and Jem in check.

4-9 The Mortal Instruments - Cassandra Clare
Book 1. City of Bones
Book 2. City of Ashes
Book 3. City of Glass
Book 4. City of Fallen Angels
Book 5. City of Lost Souls
Book 6. City of Heavenly Fire

This story begins when Clary Fray’s search for her mother leads her into an alternate New York called Downworld, filled with mysterious faeries, partying warlocks, vampires, an army of werewolves, and the demons who as usual want to destroy it all. She also finds herself torn between two boys; her childhood best friend, Simon, and the mysterious Shadowhunter, Jace. She learns that her mother has been keeping a secret from her for her entire life. Clary finds herself becoming a part of the secret world of the Shadowhunters and as she does, she discovers that rescuing her mother might mean jeopardising everything the Shadowhunters work for.
When I was sorting through these, I realised that my mum still has my City of Heavenly Fire book!
Again, these books made me laugh and cry. You really do fall in love with the characters.
This book series has been turned into a television series too called Shadowhunters. I highly recommend watching it. As a massive fan of the books, I was so dubious about watching the show, but it hasn't disappointed so far. It is close to the books but the show writers have thrown in the odd curve ball every now and again to keep the book fans on their toes and keep it fresh and exciting for people like me.

10. The Dark Artifices - Cassandra Clare
Book 1. Lady Midnight

Lady midnight is the first instalment of The Dark Artifices trilogy and it all kicks off  five years after the events of City of Heavenly Fire that brought the Shadowhunters to the brink of oblivion. Emma Carstairs who we met back in the Mortal Instruments is no longer a grieving young girl, but a strong young woman Hell bent on discovering what killed her parents and avenging their deaths.
Teamed up with her Parabatai Julian Blackthorn, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches across Los Angeles, from the Sunset Strip right across to Santa Monica.
As I said, this is only the first instalment but as usual, I am already hooked and I cannot wait for the next instalment, Lord of Shadows to be released in May!

11. Great Expectations - Charles Dickens

I honestly don't know why it's taken me so long to finally get around to reading this book.
In the Infernal device books I mentioned earlier, there are a lot of references to Charles Dickens and Great Expectations so I think that is what pushed me to finally go out and buy it.
This book really doesn't need an explanation as I'm sure so many people already know the story line if only loosely.
The storytelling is just beautiful and you really get a sense of what it was like to live back in this time.

12. A Work in Progress - Connor Franta

I have been a massive fan of Connor Franta since his days back in O2l on YouTube.
Connor wrote this intimate memoir of  his life beyond the camera, sharing the lessons he has learned on his journey from a small-town boy  from Minnesota to a YouTube sensation living in LA. Connor takes us right back to his upbringing as one of four children in the home and one of five in the classroom; he goes into the depths of his struggles with identity, body image, and sexuality in his teen years; and his decision to finally pursue his creative and artistic passions in his early twenties, setting up his thrilling career as a YouTube personality, philanthropist, entrepreneur, and taste-maker. He reveals his private struggles while providing strong and powerful words of wisdom for young adults in this book just as he does in his YouTube videos. This copy includes photography and childhood clippings provided by Connor.

13. Don't Try This at Home - Kian Lawley and Jc Caylen

Again, from the days of O2l, Kian and Jc have written about their journey from childhood to becoming an internet sensation. This book is written by each of them and takes us through the completely wild and entirely true account of their rise to internet fame. This book had me crying with laughter at their sometimes hilarious, sometimes awkward, and as always crazy collection of stories. Filled with the highs and lows of growing up, friendships and families. This book is hilarious but also very honest and shows a side of both Kian and Jc that you normally don't see on their channel.

14. The Amazing Book is not on Fire - Dan and Phil
IMG_9910
Sticking with the YouTube theme, this book is one of the best I have read yet. Starting right at the beginning with stories of their birth, you really get a look inside the weird and wonderful world of Dan and Phil. We got to explore Phil’s teenage diary and  learned all the reasons why Dan’s a fail. This book will also teach you how to draw the perfect cat whiskers, give you advice on how to a YouTube video. This book is filled with stories and pages of silliness that fans will truly cry with laughter at.

15. Loving Bad - Regan Ure
download
This book, I read in approximately 8 hours from start to finish.
Loving Bad is a story of when the good girl falls for the bad boy with a bad attitude, tattoos and piercings. Taylor Price has always followed the rules the rules and done what she was told until she moves away from her overprotective family and meets Sin Carter. Sin is trying to break free from his dark past while Taylor lives each day trying to forget about the horrors that ruined her childhood. When they meet, their physical attraction is undeniable. One night is not enough for either of them.
This book left both me and my friend hot under the collar. For the more mature readers, this book is filled with drama, suspense and sexy men.

I really hope you've enjoyed this post =)
I love reading in my spare time so if you have any book recommendations, please feel free to leave them in the comments <3
